Personal injuries – Value of Average Awards by Category

The below table represents the various categories that The Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB) made awards on from 2010 to 2018. Alongside this is the average value that was awarded for that specific category from 2010 until 2018.

Public liability award levels have in general maintained a similar average payout whereas the payments/awards relating to employers liability has shown a lot more variation. Up to 2013, the Public liability average award was exceeding Employers liability but since then the trend has reversed with Employers liability average award exceeding the average Public Liability. In relation to Motor payments/awards, it has always remained lower than Public and Employers liability.

The below graph was assembled from figures taken off the PIAB website and can be accessed via the following link; https://www.piab.ie/eng/about-piab/statistics/statistics.html
